Individual Therapy for Teens and Young Adults in Kent, Ohio

You do not have to be in crisis to come to therapy. Maybe you are carrying more than people realize, overthinking everything, or trying to become yourself while life keeps asking you to have it all figured out. Therapy offers a consistent place to pause, understand what is happening, and build a way forward that fits you.

Who I Work With

I offer individual therapy for teens, college students, and young adults. Whether you are navigating school, relationships, growing independence, or a season of change, you do not have to sort through everything on your own.

What We Might Explore

  • Anxiety and overthinking
  • Perfectionism and self-criticism
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Self-esteem and identity
  • Relationships and boundaries
  • School, college, career, and life transitions
  • ADHD-related executive-function challenges

These are starting points, not boxes you have to fit into.

What Therapy Can Look Like

Our first appointment is a chance to learn what brings you in, talk about your goals, and begin getting to know each other. From there, we choose a direction together. Sometimes we will understand a pattern; sometimes we will practice a skill or make room for something you have been carrying. For teen clients, I will explain caregiver involvement and privacy before we begin.

How Long Does This Take?

There is no fixed number, and anyone who quotes you one before meeting you is guessing. What is true is that therapy tends to run in seasons rather than years: a stretch of weekly work while something is being understood or changed, then a looser rhythm, then a pause. Some people come for four months. Some come for two years on and off.

The useful question is not how long it takes but whether it is helping. We check that out loud, on a schedule, rather than assuming — if the sessions are not making an ordinary week easier, that is worth saying early instead of at month nine.

You can also stop. Ending is a decision you are allowed to make without a formal goodbye speech, though talking it through usually makes the ending more useful than drifting away from it.

In Person in Kent, or Online Across Ohio

I see clients in person at my office in downtown Kent, and online anywhere in Ohio. That second part is not a lesser version of the first: the work is the same, the licence covers the whole state, and a session over video from a room where you will not be overheard counts exactly as much as one across from me.

Most people who live outside Kent choose online for the obvious reason, and some people who live five minutes away choose it too. There is no preference to declare and nothing to explain.

Getting Here

The office is at 1640 Franklin Ave, Suite 222, Kent, Ohio 44240, in downtown Kent. It is a short drive from Ravenna, Streetsboro, Stow, Hudson, Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge and Akron, and about twenty minutes from Kent State University.

If getting to Kent is the thing that has kept this on the list for a while, sessions are also available online, anywhere in Ohio. Same therapist, same work, and no commute — a phone or a laptop in a room where you will not be overheard is enough.

I answer inquiries Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm. Messages that arrive over the weekend get a reply on the next business day.
