FAQ
Answers Before You Even Ask
The Things People Wonder About Most — Answered Plainly, So You Can Decide With Confidence.
Do You Take Insurance?
Color Outside the Lines Counseling is currently a private-pay practice, which means I don't bill insurance directly. That said, I can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I also keep limited sliding-scale slots open — just ask and we'll work out what's sustainable for you.
I also provide therapy through Grow Therapy, where I am able to work with select insurance plans. Insurance-based services are separate from Color Outside the Lines Counseling and must be scheduled through Grow Therapy.
Have questions about cost or getting started? You're welcome to schedule a free consultation so we can talk about your needs and whether Color Outside the Lines Counseling feels like the right fit for you.
How Can I Pay for Sessions?
All major credit cards are accepted.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
I require at least 24 hours advance notice to cancel appointments. If you notify me less than 24 hours before the appointment, you are required to pay the full cost of the session or meeting.
What Are Your Hours?
I typically work Monday-Friday from 9AM-6PM. If you reach out Saturday-Sunday, those days are not considered business hours, and I won't respond to your inquiry until the next business day.
How Long Are Sessions, and How Often Would We Meet?
Sessions are 55 minutes, and most people start with weekly appointments. As things settle, many folks move to every other week or monthly check-ins. We'll talk about what feels sustainable for you — there's no one-size-fits-all schedule here.
What Are Therapy Intensives and What Do They Cost?
Therapy intensives are designed to give you more time and space to focus on what matters most—without feeling rushed by a traditional therapy hour. Every intensive is three hours, and each one is built around a single focus: Anxiety Reset, Teen Reset, Confidence + Self-Esteem, College Transition, or Young Adult Life Reset.
For clients who are new to the practice. We'll start by getting to know what you're experiencing, what you'd like to change, and whether an intensive is the right fit for you.
Includes pre-intensive preparation, the 3-hour session, individualized tools and resources, your personalized take-home plan, and a brief 15-minute follow-up.
The assessment and the intensive together. Nothing is added for taking both — it is the $175 assessment plus the $425 intensive.
The New Client Intensive Experience amount includes the $175 Initial Clinical Assessment.
If you're already an established client and we have the clinical information we need, you may not need another assessment — the 3-hour intensive on its own is $425. No separate deposit is required, and the $425 intensive fee is charged 7 days before your scheduled intensive.
Every intensive includes personalized therapeutic activities and resources based on your individual needs, and we'll take breaks — three hours of nonstop therapy would be a lot for anybody. We'll talk together about which option makes the most sense for you.
Therapy intensives are private-pay services. Upon request, I may provide appropriate documentation for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your insurance plan and is not guaranteed.
Is Online Therapy as Effective as In-Person?
For most people, yes — research consistently shows online therapy works as well as in-person for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns. Video sessions also mean you can be in your most comfortable space, which often helps people open up faster. And if we're both in Ohio, you're covered either way.
How Do I Know If We're a Good Fit?
That's exactly what the free 15-minute consultation is for. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, I'll answer your questions, and if I'm not the right person — which happens — I'll help you find someone who is. No hard feelings, ever.
I've Never Been to Therapy. What Should I Expect?
Welcome — that first step is the hardest part, and you're doing it. The first session is mostly getting to know each other: what brought you here, what you're hoping for, and what support feels like to you. There's no script, no judgment, and no pressure to 'perform.' We go at your pace.
Still Deciding? That Is Allowed.
You do not have to be sure about any of this before a free 15-minute call. Bring the cost question to it directly — the sliding-scale slots are real, and asking about them is exactly what they are for. If money is the thing standing between you and starting, say so first.
